Terms & Conditions, Mad Comps

Last updated 9 October 2026.

Parties

These terms are between you (the customer) and Mad Comps UK, an online platform where competition tickets can be bought online and also with cash. Our office is Mad&Dad Solutions Ltd, Mad Comps UK, 14 Museum Place, Cardiff CF10 3BH. You can reach us at info@madcomps.com or contactus@madcomps.com.

Definitions

"We" / "us" / "our" means Mad Comps UK. "You" / "your" means the customer or visitor to this website. "Order" means a request to purchase a good or service. "Services" means the goods or services we provide. "Working day" means Mon-Fri excluding UK bank holidays.

Your account

You do not need an account to enter a competition. You may create a free account to keep your tickets in one place; trading on the card marketplace needs a paid membership. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for notifying us promptly of any misuse.

Orders and payments

An order is formed by your offer and our acceptance (the order confirmation). All prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Payment is due as set out at checkout. Late payment may incur interest at the statutory rate.

Competition entry terms

A skill-based question is included to comply with the Gambling Act 2005. Every competition has 100 tickets and a limit of 5 tickets per person.

You can enter as a guest, without an account, or from a Mad Comps account. As a guest you give your name and email address, confirm you are 18 or over and agree to these terms. The limit of 5 tickets per person counts every ticket you hold on a competition together: tickets bought as a guest, tickets on your account and tickets bought with cash. We treat email addresses that reach the same inbox as one person, for example the same address with a + tag, or a Gmail address written with or without dots.

A guest reservation is held for the time shown when you reserve (currently 60 minutes for PayPal and 72 hours for a bank transfer, and a bank transfer reservation made before a closing date ends at most 24 hours after that date). If we have not received and matched your payment by then, the reservation ends and its numbers go back on sale. If your bank transfer reached us before that time but we had not yet matched it, we will issue your tickets if the numbers are still free and entries are still open, or refund you in full. We limit how many tries and unpaid tickets one email address and one internet connection can have, how many unpaid tickets guests together can hold on a competition, and guests together never hold more than half of what is left on a competition unpaid, so tickets stay available for buyers who pay straight away. A reservation that would take you over 5 tickets on a competition is refused. If an unpaid guest reservation would take you over 5 tickets by the time it is paid (for example because another reservation with your email address was paid first), it cannot be paid for, and any payment for it is refunded in full.

If you pay with PayPal, your tickets are confirmed as soon as PayPal confirms the payment to us, and we email your ticket numbers to the email address you gave (or the one on your account). If PayPal holds a payment for review and completes it while your numbers are still free, your tickets are confirmed; otherwise you are refunded in full. If PayPal completes a payment after your reservation has ended, we issue your tickets if the numbers are still free and entries are still open, or refund you in full. A payment in another currency, or for a different amount from what your tickets cost, is refunded in full. If a PayPal payment is refunded or reversed before the draw, its tickets may be taken out of the draw.

When you reserve as a guest we show your ticket numbers and a private ticket link. Keep the link: it shows your tickets and payment, and anyone who has it can see them. We contact winners by email at the address given, so please check it carefully. If you later create an account with the same email address and confirm it, paid tickets you bought as a guest with that address are added to your account.

A competition runs until all 100 tickets are sold or until its closing date, whichever comes first. Where a competition has a closing date, it is shown on the competition in UK time. No entry, paid or free, is accepted after the closing date. Tickets reserved before the closing date can still be paid for within their normal time (from an account, 24 hours, or 7 days for a bank transfer chosen before the closing date; as a guest, the time shown when you reserved), and once paid they are in the draw. So that the draw is not held up, we may release a reservation still waiting for a PayPal payment from one hour after the closing date; a bank transfer chosen from an account before the closing date always keeps its 7 days.

The winner is drawn within 24 hours of the draw becoming due: when the last of the 100 tickets is paid for, or, once the closing date has passed, when every reserved ticket has been paid for or released. A competition that has not sold out by its closing date still goes ahead and the draw is made from the tickets sold and the free entries claimed, so tickets are not refunded because a competition did not sell out. If no tickets are sold and no free entries are claimed by the closing date, there is no draw, and we may move the closing date later or end the competition. A competition without a closing date runs until all 100 tickets are sold, and once tickets are sold it is not given a closing date. Once tickets are sold, a closing date can only be moved later, and only before it is reached; it never moves after it has passed.

Card Trading marketplace

  1. Members list cards and collectibles on Card Trading, one item per listing, for other members to buy or trade.
  2. Buying and paying another member through the site is not open yet. Until it opens, a sale or trade is arranged directly between members and Mad Comps UK is not a party to it.
  3. Refunds and returns for a sale or trade between members are agreed between the seller and the buyer. This does not affect any rights you have by law.
  4. Before buying through the site opens, these terms will set out how payments, refunds and disputes work. A 1.5 percent platform fee will apply to completed sales and trades.

Grading and early offers

  1. Grading is optional. Mad Comps UK authenticate and grade is the one card check we offer. Only members aged 18 or over can ask for it, for any card they list for sale or trade on Card Trading: a trading card from the card search, a baseball card or a Hot Wheels card, whether raw or in another grading company's case. Other collectibles cannot be sent. There is no fee for grading at present. If that changes, the fee will be shown with the terms before you ask and will never apply to a request already made. Who pays to post your card to us, and who bears the risk while it is in the post to us, is as shown with the terms. When you ask, you confirm that you are 18 or over, and you tell us whether the card is in a grading company's case.
  2. Who we are: the business named with the grading terms and at the top of these terms. Your card is checked and graded by the Mad Comps UK authentication team. The grade is Mad Comps UK's own opinion of the card as we found it on the day we graded it, on the scale we publish ("How we grade"). It is not a grade, slab or label from an outside grading company such as PSA, BGS, CGC or ACE, and another grader may grade the card differently. Our grade is always shown as the Mad Comps UK grade. We do not seal or label the card, and we cannot check a grade against a photo yet.
  3. Cards already graded by another company stay in their case. A card in a grading company's case, for example from PSA, Beckett (BGS), SGC or CGC, is never taken out of it by us unless you ask in writing (next item). When you ask, you give the company, the grade on the label and the certificate number. If your listing names a company grade, the label must show the same company and grade. We then do a case and label check only: we check that the case is genuine and has not been opened or tampered with, and that the label matches the card inside and its certificate. A case and label check gives no Mad Comps UK grade, and there is no early offer for it. If it passes, your listing shows "Case and label checked by Mad Comps UK" once your card is back and the listing is open again, until the card is taken out of its case. If it does not pass, the listing stays closed and cannot be opened again on Card Trading, and we may remove it, unless at your written request we take the card out of its case, grade it and find it genuine. If a card you sent as raw arrives in a case, we do not open it: we do a case and label check instead and tell you. If a card you said was in a case arrives without one, we tell you what arrived, and we grade it as a raw card only after you confirm in your account that it was not in a case when you posted it; if it was in a case, ask for it back instead. If your listing names a company grade, such a card does not match the listing and we send it back.
  4. Taking a card out of its case. We take a card out of its case only if you ask us in writing in your account, by typing the sentence shown there, while the card is on its way to us or with us. We record your request and the time you made it. Taking a card out of its case voids its old grade for good, and we keep a record of what your listing said. From then your listing says the card was taken out of its case and its old grade is void. A baseball or Hot Wheels listing also shows the card as Raw, and its title no longer names the old grade. Your listing photo may still show the old case; the grade on it no longer applies. We then grade the card as a raw card and, under the table you agreed to, may make an early offer, as for any other card. We cannot put a card back in its case or restore its old grade.
  5. Mad Comps UK grades your card, chooses the guide price and is the buyer. The offer is the guide price times the percentage for the grade in the table shown before you ask, rounded down to the penny, and never more than any highest offer shown. We set the guide price as described in "How we set the guide price", from a price no older than the number of days shown. We cannot tell you the offer until we have seen the card, and you do not have to accept. The terms you agreed to apply to your request even if we change them later. Every guide price we save for your card is recorded. There is no offer if the grade is below the table, if we cannot confirm a guide price, if we could not verify the card as genuine, or for a case and label check.
  6. After you ask, post your card to the address shown in your account, quoting your reference. Your listing is paused while we hold your card, so you must not agree another sale of it during that time. You can cancel in your account until we mark your card as received; if you have already posted it, we send it back when it arrives. If the card we receive does not match your listing, we send it back without grading it. If a card does not arrive, we may cancel the request and tell you why, and we do so automatically after the number of days shown, if one is shown.
  7. We aim to grade your card within the number of days shown. You can ask for your card back at any time before we send the result.
  8. An offer stays open for the number of days shown, from the day we send your result. You can accept or decline it in your account. To accept, you confirm that you are 18 or over, the card is yours and you are free to sell it. We then pay the full offer within the number of days shown and record the payment in your account. Emails about payment come only from the payment contact address shown and quote your reference; we will never ask for a fee, a password or card numbers. If we have not paid you by then, you can ask for your card back.
  9. An offer or a sale can end on our side only in these ways, and each time we tell you why and send your card back. (a) Before you accept, we may withdraw an offer only if the card is not the one listed or we suspect the card is stolen. (b) If we find we made a mistake in a result before you answer, we take the result back and check the card again under the same table; the new grade and offer may be lower or higher. (c) If we later find a result was wrong, we revoke it. (d) A sale you accepted ends only if we revoke the result, if you have not given us the details we need to pay you by the pay-by date, if you ask us to cancel it, or if a buyer paid for the listing on Card Trading while we held the card. Damage that happens while we hold your card is covered by the last item below.
  10. If you decline, the offer ends, it is withdrawn, there is no offer, we could not verify the card as genuine, or we did a case and label check, we return your card as described with the terms you agreed to, within the number of working days shown.
  11. Card authentication is part of grading: we do not offer it on its own. A card we grade and verify as genuine shows Card authenticated and its Mad Comps UK grade on your listing while the listing still shows the card we checked. A case and label check never shows Card authenticated or a grade. If the listing's card, name, picture or photo changes, the badges are removed, except when we make the title again after taking a card out of its case at your written request. If we withdraw an offer because the card is not the one listed or we suspect it is stolen, both are removed for good. A card we could not verify as genuine shows neither. The listing of a card we could not verify as genuine, or which we suspect is stolen, stays closed and cannot be opened again on Card Trading, and we may remove it.
  12. You can have up to the number of cards with us at once, and make up to the number of requests in any 30 days, shown with the terms. Grades and case and label checks count the same.
  13. We take reasonable care of your card while we hold it. If your card is lost or damaged while we hold it, we will tell you straight away and put it right as the law requires. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

Your consumer rights

If you are a consumer you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 for distance contracts, and a 30-day right to reject faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
